Executive Secretary – Job Summary

The Executive Secretary will be responsible for managing and overseeing administrative matters of the Council and serving as its spokesperson.

The position is intended to ensure that the Council achieves its objectives, including:

  • Providing Tanzanians with opportunities to participate effectively in economic activities.
  • Encouraging savings, investment and meaningful economic participation.
  • Promoting and supporting business ventures pioneered and operated by Tanzanians.
  • Managing, administering and identifying sources of grants and donations for the relevant fund.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will perform a range of senior management and administrative responsibilities, including:

  1. Implementing the functions of the Council as provided under Section 5 of the National Economic Empowerment Act of 2004.
  2. Providing administrative support to the Council in carrying out its statutory functions.
  3. Ensuring the preparation of the Strategic Plan, annual budget and other plans.
  4. Ensuring the preparation of financial statements and progress reports.
  5. Overseeing the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of short-, medium- and long-term plans and programmes.
  6. Managing the daily affairs of the Secretariat under the general directives of the Council.
  7. Arranging Council business and ensuring proper recording and keeping of minutes.
  8. Developing strategies to improve performance and efficiency.
  9. Overseeing policy formulation, deliberation and implementation.
  10. Overseeing realization of the Council's vision and strategic plan.
  11. Overseeing implementation of Council resolutions and directives.
  12. Leading initiatives to mobilize financial resources for Council projects.
  13. Performing other related duties assigned by the Council.

Qualifications for NEEC Executive Secretary

Applicants must hold a Master's Degree in one of the following fields:
